Cobalt Health is an impactful medical charity dedicated to improving health outcomes through the development and provision of leading medical imaging services. Recent years have seen considerable growth for the charity. Cobalt Health’s annual income now exceeds £25m and they provide diagnostic services to over 160,000 patients every year at centres in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Birmingham and nationally through a sizeable fleet of mobile scanning units. The new Chief Executive will join Cobalt Health at an exciting time, developing the systems and processes that underpin efficiency and quality across a larger geographical footprint, and focusing on financial sustainability against the backdrop of a highly competitive market.

About the role

The Board of Trustees are working with Odgers Berndston to appoint an ambitious CEO to lead the organisation, driving business development activity with the NHS, wider healthcare and medical research communities and raising the profile with influential stakeholders. Working alongside the executive team, the CEO will develop and execute a growth strategy, expanding market opportunities and pursuing income streams that can be delivered sustainably, meet the highest quality standards, and generate a financial surplus that can be reinvested to further the charity’s reach.

About you

  • An experienced leader, currently operating at or near CEO level with the credibility to lead an organisation of comparable scale and complexity. 
  • Credibility at board level you’ll be experienced at recruiting, developing and leading strong senior teams.
  • Knowledgeable of the NHS and wider healthcare sector; a successful track record of winning and delivering service contracts that are sustainable financially and qualitatively.
  • Highest levels of integrity with a clear passion for running an impactful medical charity built on excellence in clinical care.
  • Exceptional commercial and strategic skills combined with a hands-on approach, with a strong grasp of operational and financial performance.
  • Committed to developing and upholding a culture rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion, both for colleagues and the patient communities that use Cobalt Health’s services.
